Actress Prarthana Behere recently found herself embroiled in controversy after her remarks at an event in Udgir, Maharashtra, where she referred to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as Shivaji Jayanti. This incident occurred during the inauguration of the Kisan Fashion Mall, where Behere addressed the crowd with wishes of Happy Shivaji Jayanti and Jai Bhawani, Jai Shivaji. While expressing her observations about the celebration of Shivaji Jayanti in Udgir, she commended the sight of saffron flags and a festive rally.

However, her use of the term Shivaji Jayanti instead of the revered title Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj saw outrage among attendees, who considered it disrespectful. The audience, offended by the misnaming of the historical figure, tore down welcoming banners and demanded an apology from the actress.

Subsequently, Prarthana Behere took to Instagram to issue a public apology in a video statement. Expressing regret for any offence caused by her remarks, she clarified that she did not intend any disrespect and extended her wishes on the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti. Recognising her mistake, Behere sought forgiveness from those who felt offended by her words.
