The news of her death was first revealed in a post shared on her official Instagram handle. “This morning is a tough one for us. Deeply saddened to inform you that we have lost our beloved Poonam to cervical cancer. Every living form that ever came in contact with her was met with pure love and kindness. In this time of grief, we would request for privacy while we remember her fondly for all that we shared,” the post read.

The news has left everyone in shock. Many are speculating if the news of her demise is a hoax. Many took to social media to post that the actress didn’t “look sick”. The actress even shot with a celebrity photographer two days back. Many on social media still doubt the death of the ‘Lock Up’ star, suspecting that her official account might be hacked. Some believe that sudden deaths are uncommon for cervical cancer patients, and if her demise is genuine, there is a call for investigation.

On the work front, Poonam was last seen in the first season of Lock Upp hosted by Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut. Though she did not win the show, she did expand her fan base. The first season of Kangana Ranaut’s Lock Upp was won by stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui. Lock Upp had 14 contestants including Payal Rohatgi, Kaaranvir Bohra, Anjali Arora, Babita Phogat among others.
