One Mistake That Cost This Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar Star His Flourishing Career
Due to his 6 feet height and his charming looks, his friends urged him to try modelling and from there he landed roles in advertisements and finally acting.

Do you remember the tall and swanky actor who played Aamir Khan’s brother’s role in Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar? Yes, we are talking about Harmeet Singh Mamik, aka, Mamik, who is an Indian actor and works on television as well as Hindi films. The actor marked his debut with Mansoor Khan’s Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar movie in 1992, earning immense recognition and accolades for his performance in the blockbuster movie. However, his flourishing career ended because of his one mistake.

Reportedly, Mamik initially had no intentions of pursuing a career in acting. According to sources, his dream was to serve the country by joining the Indian Army. Despite his earnest efforts, he faced obstacles in joining the army. However, his friends, impressed by his 6 feet height and charming looks, encouraged him to explore a career in modelling. This led to roles in advertisements and eventually paved the way for his entry into the world of acting.

Mamik’s breakthrough role as Ratan in Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar came unexpectedly after Milind Soman left the film for undisclosed reasons. The movie turned out to be a blockbuster hit, propelling Mamik into the limelight. Following the success of his debut, Mamik decided to be selective in his projects, leading to a decline in offers. Reportedly, his rising stardom led him to turn down less significant projects, resulting in a slowdown in his career. Consequently, he shifted his focus to the television industry, where he quickly became a household name.

In 1997, Mamik appeared in films such as Aar Ya Paar, Dil Ke Jharojhe Mein, and Koi Kisise Kum Nahin. In 2000, he was cast in Kundan Shah’s movie Kya Kehna, featuring Preity Zinta, Saif Ali Khan, and Chandrachur Singh in lead roles. Mamik also made a mark in the television industry with popular serials like Sadma Saahil, Maal Hai To Taal Hai, Aa Gale Lag Ja, and Chandrakanta, among others.

In a candid throwback interview, Mamik revealed a challenging phase in his life related to drug abuse, attributing it to the downturn in his career. He described it as a sorry phase, acknowledging that he was in the wrong company and caught in a cobweb of drugs. Mamik shared that his family life was adversely affected and turned chaotic during this period. However, with the support of friends and family, he managed to overcome this challenging phase. Offering advice to the younger generation, Mamik compared getting into drug abuse to putting a finger into the fire to test if it hurts, emphasizing that a drug addict needs attention, not neglect.
