The 70th annual National Film Awards for films released in 2022 were announced on Friday, August 16. Yash’s KGF Chapter 2 has emerged victorious in the Best Kannada Film and Best Action Direction (Stunt Choreography) categories in the Feature Films section.
Director Prashanth Neel and Hombale Films LLP production house have won the award for Best Film, and Anbariv has bagged the Best Action Direction Award. After much delay, the second part of KGF was released on April 14, 2022. Within a few days of its release, the sequel surpassed the expectations of KGF: Chapter 1.
Apart from Yash, it also stars Sanjay Dutt as the antagonist, Srinidhi Shetty as Yash’s love interest and Raveena Tandon and Prakash Raj in key roles. The film was released in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. While the music of the film was composed by Ravi Basrur, the cinematography was handled by Bhuvan Gowda and edited by Ujwal Kulkarni.
In the second part, Rocky (Yash) who has won over the people of KGF now dreams big and treads a more dangerous path. While he has created an indestructible empire, there are many enemies, especially Adheera (Sanjay Dutt) who are out to finish him and take back KGF. The film was produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner of Hombale Films.
After the massive success of the KGF franchise, Yash will now be seen in Toxic. Toxic also happens to be Yash’s maiden project as a producer with his production house ‘Monster Minds Creation.’ Billed as the ‘Fairy tale for grown-ups’, the action-packed movie Toxic will be directed by Geetu Mohandas. It will be produced under the banner of KVN Productions. The shooting for the film is already underway.
Reportedly, Toxic will also star Kiara Advani but there is no official confirmation regarding this as of now. Nayanthara is also likely to star in the film. Reportedly, she has been approached for the role of a sister in the movie, which was earlier to be played by Kareena Kapoor Khan. Toxic is slated to hit theatres worldwide on April 10, 2025.
