Stand-up comedian and Bigg Boss 17 winner Munawar Faruqui left Delhi on Monday over a potential threat to life. As reported by ETimes, Munawar, who was in the national capital for the Entertainers Cricket League, left for Mumbai after Delhi Police received intelligence about a potential threat to the comedian’s life.
Reportedly, police officials got a hint about the potential threat on Saturday night when they were interrogating the suspects of another shooting case in New Delhi. During questioning, the suspects disclosed that they had recently been instructed to conduct reconnaissance of the hotel, where Munawar was staying, for a targeted murder.
Following the intelligence input, a search operation was conducted at the IGI indoor stadium and the hotel. Reportedly, Munawar was staying on the first floor of the hotel and his room was also examined by cops.
“We were merely instructed to enhance security at the stadium where a match between two teams named Haryanvi Hunters and Mumbai Disruptors was scheduled to take place,” a police officer from the south district said. Police officials are still stationed outside the hotel and further investigation is underway.
However, it should also be noted that neither the management of ECL nor Munawar has issued any official statement as of now.
Meanwhile, on Monday, Elvish Yadav also allegedly received death threats. The Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner was attending the Entertainers Cricket League 2024 when he was supposed to play against Munawar Faruqui. As reported by Free Press Journal, the two engaged in fun banter ahead of the match. However, a little later, Elvish Yadav allegedly received death threats for playing against Munawar.
Reportedly, the officials were also left shocked following which they decided to vacate the stadium. To ensure the safety of Elvish, all the fans were asked to leave and the entrance gates were also sealed. The players played the match without the audience.
