The couple's love and respect for their respective art forms have been evident throughout their marriage.

Radhika Apte recently made headlines as she announced her pregnancy during an appearance at the British Film Institute (BFI) London Film Festival on October 16. The talented actor, known for her versatile roles in films and series across various languages, proudly displayed her baby bump while gracing the red carpet in a simple black off-shoulder bodycon dress. At 39, Radhika is expecting her first child with her husband of 12 years, British musician Benedict Taylor.

Radhika and Benedict, who tied the knot in 2012, have balanced their careers across different fields. While Radhika has been in the film industry since 2005, Benedict began his career as a violist, violinist, and composer in 2000. Music is central to Benedict’s life. He once shared in an interview with Scroll.in that he finds immense joy in deconstructing music and exploring the wealth of sound produced by the instruments he plays.

The couple’s love and respect for their respective art forms have been evident throughout their marriage. Despite their different professional paths, Radhika and Benedict share a strong bond.

Benedict Taylor’s musical expertise extends beyond the British and European scene, having made significant contributions to several Indian projects. He has curated music for several acclaimed films and series, including Udta Punjab, Paatal Lok, Sonchiriya, Qarib Qarib Single, and Nil Battey Sannata, showcasing his versatility and ability to blend his style with diverse storytelling.

One of Taylor’s most celebrated works is his score for Ship of Theseus, a collaboration with his frequent partner, guitarist Naren Chandavarkar. The duo’s ability to craft intricate and evocative soundscapes has earned them widespread recognition. Their collaboration began with Anurag Kashyap’s 2010 film That Girl in Yellow Boots when Chandavarkar brought Taylor on board to compose the film’s unique and haunting music. Since then, Taylor and Chandavarkar have formed a strong creative bond, contributing to some of the most critically acclaimed Indian films.

Radhika met Benedict while studying dance in London. Both fell in love with each other and stayed under the same roof for a while before getting married.

According to Radhika in an interview, she wore her grandmother’s torn saree during the wedding. She does not have a single photo of this wedding. Both announced their marriage in 2013 with a reception party. Benedict Taylor initially moved to Mumbai to be closer to his wife, Radhika Apte, and to explore opportunities in the Indian music industry. However, the move started to impact his career, as his primary base of work was still rooted in the British and European music scenes. Realizing this, Benedict eventually returned to London to continue focusing on his music career.

Despite the distance, Radhika and Benedict managed to maintain a strong relationship. According to Radhika, the two were living separately during the Covid epidemic. Radhika has been living in London as much as possible since the pandemic. According to them, this period is the second chapter of their relationship.
