Juhi Chawla Recalls How Ajay Devgn, Aamir Khan Played Pranks On Ishq Sets: 'The AD Would Get Scolded'

Actress Juhi Chawla made a recent appearance on an episode of the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11. Her illustrious Bollywood career was honoured in a special episode titled ‘Jashn Juhi Ka.’ The episode served as a tribute to the actress’s contributions to Indian cinema and featured finalists of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11 performing on her ’90s hits. Juhi took the opportunity to share fun anecdotes about both her professional and personal life during the episode.

Juhi Chawla has co-starred with Aamir Khan in many films. Following her win in the 1984 Miss India beauty pageant, Juhi made a debut in the 1986 film Sultanat. However, it was the 1988 release Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, where she shared the screen with Aamir Khan, that marked her breakthrough in the industry.

Juhi and Aamir worked on several other films, including Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke, Daulat Ki Jung, Love Love Love, Ishq, Andaz Apna Apna, and Darr, among others. In a recent episode of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11, Juhi entertained the audience with funny anecdotes about the actor. Choreographer-filmmaker Farah Khan, one of the judges of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 11, asked about the cheapesr gift Juhi had received from any celebrity and Juhi named Aamir! “You want me to say the name? It was Aamir Khan,” she shared, adding, “This was when we had just become stars. It was my birthday and, in the evening, Aamir called and said he would come home. He came home to wish me and everyone in my house was excited. He sat and removed a small chocolate for me and said that is my gift.”

Juhi revealed that during the filming of Ishq, Ajay Devgn and Aamir, despite their serious appearances, would play pranks on set. She shared an incident where they teased a new assistant director during the clap for a shot, causing disruptions. The AD would get scolded by the director, Indra Kumar, unaware that Aamir and Ajay were behind the mischief.
