Jacqueline Fernandez opened up about women representation in Bollywood. She also commented upon the pay parity issue in the industry.

Jacqueline Fernandez, one of Bollywood’s most popular actresses, recently shared her thoughts on the ongoing discussion about pay parity and gender equality in the film industry. Despite the debate surrounding these issues, Jacqueline expressed optimism about the current state of female representation in Bollywood.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Jacqueline was asked about her views on gender parity, especially considering her experience working with some of the industry’s biggest male stars, including Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Emraan Hashmi, and John Abraham.

The ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ actress acknowledged the progress that has been made, stating, “We have strong female representation now, which is such a relief! But we can push the envelope a lot more.” She emphasized the importance of encouraging more women-centric films and supporting female protagonists, directors, and producers in taking leading roles in the industry.

Jacqueline also expressed her desire to see more female-driven scripts and characters, saying, “Some female actors believe that change is happening, and I am one of them.” She is hopeful that this trend will continue to grow, further empowering women in Bollywood.

Jacqueline Fernandez also opened up on how she handles being in the spotlight for negative reasons. Jacqueline said, “Positives and negatives are always going to be there…But what has helped me the most is giving up this constant desire and need to be loved and realising that this is truly the last illusion we all have and that we all face. This is what has kept me free, humble, and calm.” Jacqueline said that she relies on her strong faith in God, which gives her strength and peace. Meditation has also helped her recognise genuine people, so she keeps her family and good people close. She added, “I believe in God, I always have. It’s an extremely strong force in my life. And because of that, I never really fear anything. I meditate often. Now I’m able to distinguish between right and wrong people, and I keep my family and good people close. I hold on to my ability to be empathetic as my superpower, and not a weakness.”

On the professional front, Jacqueline has an exciting lineup of projects ahead. She will be starring in ‘Fateh’, directed by and starring Sonu Sood. Additionally, she is set to appear in Ahmed Khan’s ‘Welcome To The Jungle’, the highly anticipated third installment of the ‘Welcome’ franchise, featuring a star-studded cast including Akshay Kumar, Shreyas Talpade, Arshad Warsi, Disha Patani, Paresh Rawal, Suniel Shetty, Johnny Lever, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, and Rajpal Yadav.
