Kapil Sharma’s latest comedy flick, The Great Indian Kapil Show, has created a buzz in the OTT realm. The most recent episode featured Diljit Dosanjh, Parineeti Chopra, and Imtiaz Ali promoting their latest film, Amar Singh Chamkila. While the episode itself was a hit among fans, the host Kapil Sharma dropped some BTS with the talented team.
Imtiaz told Kapil that if Diljit would not do the film, then Kapil was their next choice. Kapil Sharma has appeared in several successful films, like Firangi, and Zwigato, and in the latest made a cameo in Crew.
Interestingly, Amar Singh Chamkila was the first time Imtiaz Ali worked with Diljit Dosanjh. On being asked by Kapil Sharma, why Diljit was his first choice for the movie, the director shared an interesting anecdote that proved how acclaimed Diljit has become in the industry. The director said, “Mujhe Shah Rukh Khan ne bola tha ki agar is mulk main sabse achha koi actor hain, toh paa ji hain.” This statement left everyone surprised, and the audience cheered loudly. Even Diljit Dosanjh was unable to believe this and joked that maybe it was a statement made in a moment, and the superstar did not seriously mean it.
Meanwhile, the film Amar Singh Chamkila explores the life of the great Punjabi musician of the same name, who was brutally killed at the age of 27. The film was released on Netflix on April 12 and has received considerable acclaim and feedback from the audience. Parineeti Chopra stars in the film as Amar Singh Chamkila’s wife.
News18 gave the film 3.5/5 stars. The review of the film read, “Diljit delivers a stupendous act as the protagonist. The character of Amar Singh Chamkila is tailor-made for him and he pours his heart out into it. His hard work is palpable and yet his performance is effortless. Watching him become Chamkila and sing his songs will fill your heart up with unadulterated joy.”
