Gohan Black: Here's What We Know About The Dragon Ball's Newest Villain
The most significant change revolves around Gohan. In Dragon Ball Super, Gohan had stepped away from training following the Majin Buu saga, leaving a gap in Earth's defences.

Imagine a Dragon Ball universe where Gohan, instead of stepping aside, rises to become the most powerful warrior in the universe, a world where the butterfly effect of one small change leads to chaos, destruction, and a villain, unlike anything we’ve ever seen. Enter Gohan Black, the latest addition to Dragon Ball’s ever-expanding universe, introduced in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero. This new villain isn’t just shaking things up but he’s rewriting the rules. Sparking! Zero hands over the reins to fans, allowing them to explore alternate storylines where even the smallest twist can lead to colossal consequences. And the biggest twist? Gohan takes on a much more significant role in the Dragon Ball saga, leading to the birth of Gohan Black.

Much like a butterfly effect, these ‘What If’ stories in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero varies from minor tweaks to major plot shifts. The most significant change revolves around Gohan. In Dragon Ball Super, Gohan had stepped away from training following the Majin Buu saga, leaving a gap in Earth’s defences. But Sparking! Zero reimagines Gohan as he was initially meant to be – Goku’s true successor and the strongest warrior in the universe, making him the target of an enraged, vengeful god, reports Comicbook.

In Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, fans can reportedly take control of the story and put Gohan in the spotlight. During the Resurrection F arc, instead of being defeated by Frieza, Gohan recovers his full strength during the battle. Reaching his Ultimate Gohan form, he manages to not only hold his own against Frieza but even takes down Golden Frieza by himself – a huge departure from the original series, where only Goku and Vegeta, in their Super Saiyan Blue forms, could take on the villain.

Comicbook further informs that this victory sets off a chain of events where Gohan becomes inspired to train with Piccolo. Despite his victory over Golden Frieza, Gohan realises he was pushed to his limits and barely survived. As he trains more, Gohan surpasses his father and Vegeta, becoming Universe 7’s most powerful fighter. In the Tournament of Destroyers, Gohan takes the spotlight, facing off against Hit in a match that garners attention from across the multiverse.

When the events of the Future Trunks arc roll in, Gohan remains the strongest. Future Trunks mistakenly attacks Gohan upon his arrival, much like how he once suspected Goku of being someone else. Soon after, a wormhole appears, and out steps a villain with a familiar face—Gohan, but an evil version from Trunks’ timeline. Just as Goku Black appeared in the main series, this new villain, Gohan Black, wields the same power.

Had Gohan been more involved in the main Japanese series, especially during the Future Trunks arc, the story could have reached new heights, reports Comicbook.
