Devara, starring Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor, has taken the box office by storm. The film has already crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in just two days. Directed by Koratala Siva, the action-packed drama has captivated audiences with its engaging storyline and powerhouse performances. The film also stars Saif Ali Khan in a pivotal role.
According to Sacnilk.com, the film minted ₹82.5 crore (nett) in India on opening day and registered a business of ₹40 crore (nett) on day two. It takes the total to ₹122.19 crore (nett). According to Pinkvilla reports, the film’s opening day ticket sales have crossed the Rs 80-crore mark. Out of this total collection, Rs 49 crore has been collected from India, while the international market contributes Rs 31 crore.
To attract a massive audience and create box office history, the makers of Devara: Part 1 have decided to extend its theatrical release. While most films typically screen for about 4-5 weeks, the team behind Jr NTR’s latest movie aims to keep it in theatres for at least 50 days, or roughly 7-8 weeks. Previously, Kalki 2898 AD ran for nearly 8 weeks and set impressive box office records. It appears that the Devara team is following a similar path. They plan to release the film on OTT platforms only after the 50 day theatrical run, which provides audiences enough time to enjoy the action packed thriller on the big screen.
As per Aakashavaani’s Instagram post, “Makers of Devara going for a proper 50 days theatrical window. Film will not have a digital release before 50 days of theatrical release. So, watch it in theatres.”
Other than Devara, Jr NTR will soon start working on Devara Part 2, followed by YRF’s War 2 with Hrithik Roshan and an untitled project with Prashanth Neel.
Talking about making Devara in two parts, Kortala Siva added that although they started the film as one part, the entire crew, after the second schedule, thought not to tell the whole story of Devara in one part. He further added that, “When I narrated the story to Jr NTR, it was a 4 hours-long story and when I penned it became 7 hours. It was then we took a call on making it in two instalments”.
