The annual MTV VMAs happened on the night of September 11 at UBS Arena in New York. Several celebrities walked the red carpet, showcasing their best fashion looks. While everything was going well, the Hot To Go singer Chappell Roan got caught in a drama when a photographer reportedly yelled at her.
In a clip shared by Entertainment Tonight, the 26-year-old singer was seen posing for the shutterbugs when suddenly a photographer hurled insults at her, saying, “Shut the f**k up.” However, Roan, who was making her debut at the awards show, did not keep her mum and roared back at the photographer. She said, “You shut the f**k up!” and added, “Don’t! Not me, b****h!” Meanwhile, a person who was behind the camera remarked, “Tell’em, girl!”

Later, the same media portal questioned Roan about this incident, and she said, “It’s quite overwhelming and quite scary. I think for someone who gets a lot of anxiety around people yelling at you… the carpet is horrifying. And I need to—I yelled back. I yelled back! You don’t get to yell at me like that!”
This incident on the VMA red carpet comes after her post on setting boundaries last month. In the long caption, Roan pointed out, “I turned off comments because I’m not looking for anyone’s response. This isn’t a group conversation. I understand that this is jarring to hear from a person in my position. I’m not afraid of the consequences for demanding respect. Just to let you know, every woman is feeling or has felt similar to what I’m experiencing. This isn’t a new situation. If you see me as a b***h or ungrateful or my entire statement upsets you, baby, that’s you… you gotta look inward and ask yourself, ‘Wait, why am I so upset by this? Why is a girl expressing her fears and boundaries so infuriating?’ That is all.”

Roan channelled a gothic look on the red carpet of this year’s MTV VMAs. Her outfit comprised a sheer brown floor-length Y/Project gown featuring a plunging neckline and a pistachio green velvet robe adorned with golden embroidery at the edges. Her accessories included a sword, metal cuffs, a cross necklace and long pointy nails. She tied half her signature red hair in a braided bum and left the rest open. For the unaware, the 26-year-old was nominated in four categories: Best New Artist, Push Performance of the Year for Red Wine Supernova, Best Trending Video for Hot To Go and Song Of Summer for Good Luck, Babe! She bagged the Best New Artist award.
