Indian Censor Board never fails to amuse us with its reasons and logic. Recently, the board refused to give a certificate to Alankrita Shrivastava's much talked about feminist drama, Lipstick Under My Burkha, which explores the sexual escapades of four women in a small town.
According to a media report, producer Prakash Jha and the film's director, Alankrita, were told by the CBFC that they cannot certify the film because "The story is lady oriented, their fantasy above life. There are contentious sexual scenes, abusive words, audio pornography and a bit sensitive touch about one particular section of society, hence film refused under guidelines 1(a), 2(vii), 2(ix), 2(x), 2(xi), 2(xii) and 3(i)."
The bizarre reason has received slack from the Bollywood fraternity. Farhan Akhtar tweeted, "Below is the reason CBFC listed for denying #LipstickUnderMyBurkha a release. Keep your barf bag ready.."

While Varun Grover took his stand for the film that has already gained applause in various film festivals.
CBFC now refuses to clear a film dealing w/ female sexuality 'cos ladkiyon ko sex ke baare mein nahi sochna chahiye. https://t.co/SHVnx9Xfba— वरुण (@varungrover) February 23, 2017
'Lipstick Under My Burkha', with a fantastic trailer, already won an award on Gender Equality at @MumbaiFilmFest. https://t.co/XFmoijqAIj— वरुण (@varungrover) February 23, 2017
Well, looks like even after so much backlash and criticism CBFC fails to learn its lesson and keep proving why a big change is required for a better functioning.
