Ajay Devgn is currently one of the busiest actors in the industry. He has been shooting back-to-back. He has recently announced the shooting of his next film Son of Sardar 2. And now reports are coming in that his horror drama Shaitaan is going to get a sequel. The makers have already started working on the script. Notably, the film was released this year in March.
According to a source quoted by Bollywood Hungama, work on the script for Shaitaan 2 has begun. Once the script is finalized, the filmmakers, along with Ajay Devgn, will decide on the timeline for the film’s production. Given that the first installment was one of the year’s biggest hits and received significant acclaim, the team is determined to take their time to ensure the script is well-crafted before proceeding.
The source went on to mention that with Shaitaan 2 and Son Of Sardaar 2, Ajay Devgn has established himself as the only Indian actor to lead the most successful film franchises, each spanning different genres such as action, drama, romance, and comedy.
Released on March 8, Shaitaan was presented by Jio Studios, Devgn Films and Panorama Studios. It was produced by Ajay Devgn, Jyoti Deshpande, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak and directed by Vikas Bahl. It is a psychological thriller in which ‘Shaitaan’ R Madhavan takes charge of Ajay Devgn’s daughter.
Shaitaan also marked Jyotika’s first Bollywood film in 25 years. She made her acting debut with Doli Saja Ke Rakhna, in Hindi, back in 1997.
On August 6, Ajay Devgn shared a video in which he announced the shooting begin for Son of Sardar 2. The film has Mrunal Thakur as lead actress. The video begins with Ajay Devgn tying a handkerchief on his head and offering prayers at a Gurudwara, with the chant “Jo Bole So Nihal, Sat Sri Akal” resonating in the background. Ajay’s son, Yug, also makes a brief appearance in the video. Following this, we see Mrunal, dressed in a vibrant pink kurta and yellow salwar, energetically beating a dhol and performing bhangra. Sharing the video, Mrunal wrote, “Shooting आरंभ ho gayi hain ji!”
The original “Son of Sardaar,” released in 2012, starred Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt in the lead roles of Billu and Jassi. However, according to a report in Mid-Day, Sanjay Dutt will not be returning for the sequel. The report indicates that Sanjay has been replaced by Ravi Kishan due to issues with his UK visa application. Since his arrest in 1993, Sanjay has faced difficulties in obtaining a UK visa, despite having travelled to the US multiple times. The “Son of Sardaar 2” shoot would have been his first trip to the UK. When Ajay’s team learned about the visa rejection, they made the decision to replace him with Ravi Kishan.
