This exclusive event has generated buzz online, particularly after a video surfaced showing Aamir Khan’s arrival of at the Supreme Court premises. The screening, set to take place in the auditorium of the Supreme Court Administrative Building Complex, is not limited to just the judges; their spouses and registry officials have also been extended invitations, adding a touch of camaraderie to the occasion. Kiran Rao, the visionary behind the film, will be in attendance, further elevating the significance of the event. In a communication circulated by the court’s administration on Thursday night, it was announced that Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao, the producers of the film ‘Laapataa Ladies’, would be attending a special screening of the film. The screening is set to take place on Friday, August 9, 2024, in the Auditorium of the C-block, Administrative Building Complex, as part of the court’s commemorative activities. The invitation extends beyond the judiciary to include officials of the Registry as well.

‘Laapataa Ladies’, directed by Kiran Rao, was released in theatres on March 1, 2024. The film, an adaptation of Biplab Goswami’s award-winning novel, features a talented cast including Sparsh Shrivastava, Pratibha Ranta, Nitanshi Goel, and Ravi Kishan. Set in rural India in 2001, the story follows the chaotic and humorous journey of two brides who are mistakenly swapped during a train journey, leading their husbands on a frantic search for their true spouses.

The film, made under the banners of Aamir Khan Productions and Kindling Productions, marks Kiran Rao’s return to directing after her debut with ‘Dhobi Ghat’. Prior to its release, ‘Laapataa Ladies’ garnered attention at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2023, where it received a standing ovation.

Since its release, the film has been lauded by many, including renowned figures like Hansal Mehta and Mira Kapoor. Recently, actor Vijay Varma shared his admiration for the film, calling it “exceptional”

and praising the fresh wave of talent it showcases. In his words, Laapataa Ladies rekindles a love for cinema, bringing something truly inspiring to the screen.
