Aadujeevitham fame actor KR Gokul’s new film Mlecchan was launched in Kochi on Thursday with a puja ceremony in the presence of the cast and crew. The film is written and directed by debutant Vinod Raman Nair and the dialogues are penned by Yatheesh Sivanandan. The makers also unveiled a new poster that shows Gokul covered in mud, while holding a gun in his right hand. The title is accompanied by the taglines The God, The Demon and The Redemption. Mlecchan also features Kalabhavan Shajohn, Guru Somasundaram, Asha Sharath, Adil Ibrahim, Hareesh Kanaran, Sruthy Jayan and Gayathri Satish in important roles. The technical team of the film includes cinematographer Pradeep Nair and editor Sunil S Pillai. Abhinay Bahurupi, one of the producers, will also be in charge of the film’s music. The film is directed by Vinod, Sinjo Ottathyckal, Ashlesha Rao, Abhinay and Praful Helode under the banner of Sputnik Film, with Rahul Patil serving as co-producer.

Gokul played the role of Hakeem in the Prithviraj Sukumaran-directed film Aadujeevitham, for which he underwent a significant physical transformation. His remarkable performance in this film also earned him a special jury mention at this year’s Kerala State Film Awards.

“In preparing for my role in the movie Aadujeevitham – The Goat Life, I sought inspiration from Christian Bale’s remarkable dedication. His portrayal of an insomniac, Trevor Reznik, in the 2004 thriller, The Machinist, where he dropped 28 kg through a strict diet of water, an apple and one cup of coffee daily, deeply impressed me. Bale’s performance elevated the film to cult status, and I offer this tribute to his talent and artistry as a devoted admirer of his work,” the actor wrote in his post.

KR Gokul shared the picture a few months ago and since then, the post has garnered a lot of praise from social media users. “Prithviraj is an established actor… And you are a just beginner… Yet we compete to reach his level. Both acting wise and dedication wise,” wrote one user. “Your efforts and hard work have paid off! Congratulations on this achievement and best wishes for an exciting journey,” wrote another.
