Deepawali is celebrated with utmost pomp and grandeur across India. As per the Hindu calendar, the festival of Diwali will be celebrated on October 31 in many places and on November 1 in some places. As per the scriptures, on the auspicious day of Diwali, Lord Ram reached Ayodhya after completing his 14 years of exile. His homecoming was celebrated with utmost zeal and he received a grand welcome with lit lamps from his people.
Before Diwali, people clean their homes and decorate them with flowers and diyas. Even streets and societies are decked up. Diwali is also called the festival of lights and people celebrate this on Amavasya Tithi in the month of Kartik. On the same day, many people worship Goddess Lakshmi at their house.
There are a few Vastu Shastra rules of Diwali that one must follow. It is said that if these rules are adhered to, Goddess Lakshmi will bestow the house with her blessings and there will be no shortage of money. According to Ayodhya’s astrologer, Pandit Kalki Ram said, “Vastu Shastra has special importance in Sanatan Dharma.” He further added that if one follows the rules of the Vastu Shastra, then there will be positive energy in the house. As Diwali is just around the corner, he believes that special attention must be paid to the cleanliness of the house, as Goddess Lakshmi resides only in a clean place.
As per the astrologer, one must not keep broken glass in the house. In fact, even if you have a broken idol of a deity inside the house or in the temple, make sure to immerse it in a holy river or pond before Diwali. As per Vastu Shastra, keeping a broken idol in the house is not considered auspicious.
Even if one has worn out or torn footwear, clothes or other items, make sure to discard them while cleaning the house for Diwali festivities.
