Youngster held guilty for throwing acid on women in Uttar Pradesh

Muzaffarnagar: A local court on Saturday held a 25-year-old youngster guilty for throwing acid on two women about three years ago, in which the victims were seriously injured.

District judge Rajbir Singh held the accused Pawan Kumar guilty under sections 326 and 307 of the IPC and he will pronounce the quantum of sentence on July 6, according to District Assistant Government Council Jitender Tyagi.

Two women, Usha Sharma and Bobby had sustained serious burn injuries when the youngster threw acid on them for opposing sexual advances, in Aryapur locality in Muzaffarnagar on December 30, 2012.

The incident took place when the women were returning from a market.

The court held the accused guilty despite one of the victims, Usha, having turned hostile in the case.
