Yogi Govt Orders CAG Audit of Noida, Greater Noida and UPSIDC Land Deals

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has asked the Comptroller and Auditor General of India to audit the Noida, Greater Noida, Yamuna Expressway and UPSIDC land deals.

Industrial Development Minister Satish Mahana said that to highlight corruption in the previous government in UP it is necessary for all the development authorities to be verified by the CAG.

Alok Sinha, Principal Secretary for Industry and Infrastructure, has already issued a letter regarding the audit.

Mahana said the Yogi Adityanath is leaving no stone unturned to make Uttar Pradesh corruption free.

The Noida Authority had resisted submitting itself for an audit claiming that it was not subject to CAG auditing as it is an autonomous body and does not get funding from the state or Centre.

The CAG will not just do a thorough check on procedures, utilisation of funds and progress of projects but it will also scrutinise the terms of contracts, agencies, and contractors to whom the projects have been awarded.

Earlier, the Yogi Adityanath government had opened its doors for CAG to audit Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA). During the Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his election rally in Ghaziabad had targeted the GDA for alleged land scams and said he would ensure a CAG audit of all development authorities, including the GDA, if the BJP came to power in UP.

The UP government had sent an order to the GDA on April 7 that allowed for a CAG audit. The previous Samajwadi government had denied permission for such an audit even after the intervention of Governor Ram Naik on the issue.
