The Mumbai Police was searching for him after his post went viral on social media. A team had traced Zuber Khan to Bandra but he fled before they could arrest him.

Zuber Khan made several posts before and after Memon's execution on July 30 in which he called Memon a martyr. On a popular social networking site, Khan addressed his post to IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and expressed his desire to become an official spokesperson for the terror group.

Maharashtra government has been keeping a tab on the Internet and social media to ensure that hate messages on platforms like Twitter and Whatsapp did not stir up passions in connection with Yakub Memon's execution.

Messages which could have spread hatred among various sections of society were blocked after Yakub's hanging. Hate posts were not limited merely to the virtual world but in Nasik and some other places, authorities removed offensive banners which painted Yakub as a traitor and sought to celebrate his execution.
