Women have been granted entry into a prominent mosque in Kottayam district of Kerala. Women have been allowed to go inside the Thazhathangadi Juma Masjid mosque breaking a thousand year old tradition.
Women were allowed into the mosque on Sunday. They will be allowed to enter mosque on March 8.
However, women will not be allowed to practice any rituals inside the mosque.
"I am extremely happy. It's the first time I am seeing the insides of the mosque," said a woman.
"I am really happy to be here. Next time I will get my daughter as well. I feel liberated," said another woman.
