Woman, son attacked

KOCHI: A woman and son were brutally attacked by three robbers, at their home in Angamaly on Sunday morning. Rajamma T K, 75,  and Joshy , 38, suffered injuries when robbers attacked them with iron rod and knife, early in the morning, in Karakkutty, Angamaly.According to Gopi M K, Joshy’s elder brother, the robbers first attacked his mother before looting the money from her almirah. “My mother said that she woke up when the robbers switched on the light in the house. Soon they were attacking her on her face with an iron rod,” he said. The robbers then opened her almirah and stole a cheque worth `10,000. “They also took the bangles she was wearing,” he said. The robbers then entered Joshy’s room and attacked him with a knife. Joshy got unconscious after  being hit on the nose. They broke his knee as well. Robbers took at least 160 grams of gold from his room,” Gopi  said.The mother and son have been admitted to the Medical Trust Hospital in Ernakulam. Joshy’s wife and son were saved as they had gone to Perumbavoor for a family function. Police have taken up the case.
