Woman held for emigration fraud

A woman, who tried to fly abroad with fake documents from the Cochin International Airport, was arrested by the police on Sunday. Naseema Beevi, Charuvila House, Kollam, came to the airport at 4.30 pm on Sunday to fly to Muscat.

The fraud was revealed when she submitted a copy of family visa and a return ticket in the Emigration Wing which identified the papers to  be forged.

Nedumbassery Police said that in an inquiry it  was revealed that she was possessing a maid visa which was conveniently glossed over and instead she submitted the copy of a family visa.

“The ticket was also forged. She also could not obtain Protector of Emigrants (POE) clearance,” they said.

The police said that, while questioning, the accused said that she had got the visa from her brother residing in Muscat. The police have registered a case.
