Woman candidate for Erode

ERODE: Women cadre of the AIADMK in Erode are a happy lot, thanks to Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s decision to give party ticket for the mayor’s post to a woman candidate. Malliga Paramasivam, the Erode Maanagar Mavatta AIADMK women’s wing secretary, has been announced as the mayoral candidate in Erode. She had sought a party ticket from Erode East segment for the Assembly election and also attended the nerkanal (interview) with the party chief. But, she did not emerge successful and Erode town secretary R Manoharan was announced as the AIADMK candidate. But later the seat was alloted to the DMDK. Before the Assembly elections, Malliga had invited the present tourism minister Gokula Indira to Veerappanchathram to address a mammoth public meeting. This way, she became close to the minister. She is also close to PWD Minister K V Ramalingam.
