CHENNAI: Speaking of her government’s schemes that benefit the poor, particularly the distribution of mixies, grinders and fans to women from September 15, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, in her I-Day speech on Monday said, “In this modern age, where the luxurious requirements have become essential needs, mixie and grinder will be distributed to reduce the workload of mothers. She said: “Elimination of poverty will pave the way for all inclusive economic growth. Only then, will the benefits reach equitably to one and all.” Likewise, dhoties and sarees are being distributed on account of Pongal festival, the festival of Tamils. This scheme should not be viewed as a freebie and should be viewed as one that benefits the poor. Jayalalithaa promised that various innovative people-oriented welfare schemes would continue to benefit Tamil Nadu.
