New Delhi: Ethan Hawk, the actor is back on the 70mm with Mark Ruffalo for company, in What Doesn't Kill You, a crime drama by debutante director, Brian Goodman.
Hawk and Ruffalo play two childhood friends from the tough and violent neighbourhood of South Boston trying to escape the lure of easy money and the threat of jail time that follows it.
What Doesn't Kill You also stars Amanda Peet, who gives all the credit to the debutante director.
“Well, half the time they'd be like 'Okay, we have like 20 minutes to shoot this 5-page scene.' And so it certainly was loose, because there was nothing we could do about it.
And, I think a lot of times with a writer-director - especially when they've written about their lives, you can run into someone who's really precious. But he's not like that at all. He would say 'Take it and run with it’,” says Amanda Peet.
But it took director Goodman some time to persuade Ruffalo to play the lead role
“This is one of those roles Ruffalo needed more convincing," says director, Brian Goodman.
“I was scared to do it," admitted Ruffalo.
What Doesn't Kill You opened on Friday in Los Angeles and New York.
