Vakkom panel holds first sitting

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The KPCC has begun its exercise to find out the reasons behind the poor performance of the party candidates in the Assembly elections. The committee headed by Vakkom Purushothaman, appointed by the KPCC, held its first sitting here. Chittoor MLA K Achuthan, who appeared before the committee, alleged that various Congress leaders of Thrissur district had worked against him in the elections.
He claimed that a District Congress Committee secretary and a former MLA had worked against him. He urged the leadership to expel them from the party.
