Puducherry Government has deputed a special team of officials to Uttarakhand to trace a professor of a private engineering College at Karaikal, who went missing at Kedarnath last month after floods ravaged the area.

Prof K Kumaresan, who went to Dehradun on June 13 for a training programme at IMS Unison University, had gone to Kedarnath on June 14. He last contacted his family at Karaikal on June 16 from there.

He had conveyed that the bus in which he was proceeding to Badrinath from Kedarnath had been stopped mid-way due to floods. After that, there had been no information from him and his mobile phone remained switched off, said Sundar, a relative.

Following appeals from his family, the government sent a team to Uttarakhand in June to trace the 35-year-old Professor, but in vain. Karaikal North MLA P R N Thirumurugan said the government had again deputed a team after a request from him to do so. The team is now carrying out search operations in Rudraprayag area, more than 100 km from Rishikesh, he said.
