New Delhi: The Formula One circus will move away from the United States starting next year.

The US Grand Prix will no longer take place after the agreement between the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone could not be renewed.

"To be true to that, I wanted to let everyone here know that unfortunately to my great disappointment, Formula One will not be back next year in 2008. Beyond that Bernie (Ecclestone) and I had had several discussions that led us to this decision and this announcement. But we did agree that it was prudent to try and leave the door open for the future," Tony George, the CEO of Indianapolis Motor Speedway told a press conference.

The last winner on the circuit was rookie Lewis Hamilton in June earlier this year.

The race has traditionally drawn one of the biggest crowds in the Formula One calendar and has been running for the last eight years.
