US Diplomat to Visit India, Nepal to Strengthen Relations
A top US diplomat will be visiting India and Nepal next week to explore opportunities that would strengthen the people-to-people relations.

Washington: A top US diplomat will be visiting India and Nepal next week to explore opportunities that would strengthen the people-to-people relations through educational collaborations and women empowerment.

The Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs Evan Ryan will travel to India and Nepal from September 26 to 30, the State Department said in a release yesterday.

Ryan will be in New Delhi from September 26 to 27 during which she will meet the exchange program participants, visit the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation projects near Humayun's Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and interact with local students, it said.

The secretary will visit Mumbai on September 28 and will interact with students at a women's college, visit an Education USA advising site, and meet exchange program alumni who are leading entrepreneurs.

Ryan will then visit to Kathmandu on September 29-30, where she will meet the Ministry of Education officials, engage an English Access classroom. She will also meet Nepali youth working on community projects to promote entrepreneurship and women empowerment, the release said.

During her visit to Nepal, she will visit several cultural sites supported by the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation, it added.
