New Delhi: Though the UPA Government is facing criticism over its vote against Iran from its left allies, it received support from unexpected quarters.
The BJP, in its Parliamentary meeting said that though it supports the government stand on Iran, it wants more clarity on the issue.
“We have asked the govt to come clean and explain its stand . It's their national duty,” BJP leader Jaswant Singh said.
But it was not all good news for the UPA as the BJP promised a stormy Parliament session over the issue of Muslim head count in Armed Forces.
The BJP Parliamentary Committee had called the to decide their stand on the Samajwadi Party's proposed no confidence vote, against the UPA Government on the Iran issue.
CNN-IBN has learnt that the party has also shortlisted at least 80 issues on which it will seek a debate in Parliament during the budget session.
On Monday, despite disagreement on several issues, the Left parties had ruled out supporting any no-confidence motion against the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government in the Lok Sabha while voicing its deep concern for voting against Iran in the IAEA meeting.
In the UPA-Left Coordination Committee meeting, the Left parties made it clear to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, and the Congress President, Sonia Gandhi, that they will hold discussions with non-BJP parties on Iran and FDI in retail and raise them inside and outside Parliament.
The CPI-M General Secretary, Prakash Karat, said that there was no question of moving or supporting any no-confidence motion against the Government, which the Samajwadi Party has threatened to table.
