Uttar Pradesh Police is suspicious over the manner in which 25-year old Snapdeal employee Dipti Sarna went missing. According to police sources, the girl's family had initially told them that they were going to pick her up from the station. However, the family later called the police to inform them that the girl was picked up mid-way.
The Snapdeal employee who was missing since Wednesday, returned home on Friday morning. Her parents received a call from her in the early hours of Friday where she said that she was safe and was in Panipat.
"She called me and said she is fine. I went to pick her up from the station. As soon as she came, she slept in my lap," the girl's father said. Refusing to add anything else, he said that she will narrate whatever happened later.
The police has not yet said whether it was a case of kidnapping. "A probe is on in the incident to find out what happened," Ghaziabad SSP Salmantaj Patil said.
An intensive search operation had been launched after the 25-year-old woman went missing from Ghaziabad. Before she went missing, she was seen near the Vaishali Metro station area.
Along with ten teams of the Ghaziabad Police, Snapdeal had tweeted with the hashtag #HelpFindDipti from its official account seeking help from public to find Dipti.
Dipti's sister Neha Sarna said that before she went missing, she last spoke to a friend from Bengaluru and was heard shouting at an auto driver for taking a wrong turn.
City SP Salman Taj Patil said that Dipti was on her way from Vaishali metro station to the old bus stand of Ghaziabad where her father Narendra Sarna, a resident of Kavi Nagar, was waiting to pick her up.
Intervening in the matter, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had instructed the Ghaziabad SSP to personally head the search operation.
