The illegally constructed house of a boy accused of stabbing his classmate earlier this week was demolished amidst heavy police presence in Rajasthan’s Udaipur on Saturday. The Udaipur district administration demolished the building after letting the accused’s family remove their belongings. Authorities stated that the accused and his father had been living on rent in the illegal structure.

A heavy police force was deployed at the site as a precaution in view of communal tensions that had gripped the area following the stabbing. Despite the security, a minor scuffle broke out between locals and police during the demolition.

The Incident

A Class 10 student was stabbed by a fellow student at a government-run school in the Madhuban area of Rajasthan’s Udaipur on Friday, officials said. Communal tensions erupted in the area with markets shut in Bapu Bazar, Hathipole, Ghanta Ghar, Chetak Circle and nearby areas. Prohibitory orders including Section 144 were imposed in the city.

It was not immediately known what led to the stabbing at the government school located in the Bhattiyani Chohatta area.

The victim, who is now in stable condition in a hospital ICU, was falsely rumoured to have lost his life in the incident. Following the rumours, arson and vandalism reportedly erupted across multiple locations in the city, with several vehicles set on fire.

According to District Collector Arvind Poswal, the injured student was in a stable ICU condition. The accused, along with his father, has been arrested. Poswal urged residents to avoid spreading rumours and reassured the public that the situation was being closely monitored.
