Two undertrials injured in fight

BANGALORE: A gang of undertrials engaged in a fight at Parappana Agrahara Central Prison on Monday afternoon. Two undertrials sustained minor injuries in the fight.According to a prison official, Ravikumar and Girisha alias Giri, accused in robbery cases, belonged to a gang. On Monday afternoon, both of them got involved in a heated argument. It resulted in the fist fight and the duo along with their supporters attacked each other. However, the prison staff intervened and stopped the fight.“Both sustained injuries on their faces. Ravikumar was treated at the prison hospital while Giri was sent to Victoria Hospital, where he underwent a surgical suture. Earlier, Giri was sent to Bellary prison as he was very notorious and on Sunday night he had returned to the Bangalore central prison. Ravikumar and Giri were not on good terms though they were operating together before they were arrested. This could be the reason for the attack,” the official added.Meanwhile, Joint commissioner of Police (Crime) B Dayananda visited the prison and held a meeting with prison officials to discuss various issues.
