BELLARY: Around Rs 3.98 crore in cash, which was being transported to Hyderabad from Bellary, was seized at Guntakal on Thursday.The Guntakal police confiscated the cash in gunny bags being illegally transported in a lorry and arrested four people.One of the accused, Venkataramana Reddy, is the younger brother of BV Srinivasa Reddy, former MD of Obulapuram Mining Company owned by former tourism minister Gali Janardhana Reddy, who are both in CBI custody now.On getting information, Guntakal police stopped a lorry (AP-04, X 9009) at the border with Karnataka and on inspection, found some gunny bags filled with cash being transported from Bellary.Among the four arrested, two have been identified as Ishwar Reddy and Venkataramana Reddy. Sources say the cash was being transported to Hyderabad, where the Reddys are facing a CBI inquiry.Meanwhile, the CBI questioned Gali Somashekhara Reddy, who is Janardhana Reddy’s brother.Somashekhara Reddy, an MLA from Karnataka, along with his brother, former Karnataka minister G Karunakara Reddy, were summoned to appear before the central agency in connection with the illegal mining case, officials said.
