HYDERABAD: Several Group-II examination candidates from Seemandhra, who have chosen Hyderabad as their examination centre, are a worried lot as no public transport services will be available on October and 16 due to the ongoing Sakla Janula Samme. With the RTC employees on strike for over three weeks and rail roko rescheduled for October 15, 16 and 17, candidates will have to depend on only autorickshaws and personal vehicles to reach their examination centres and to commute back. The Telangana Telugu Desam Forum submitted a memorandum to APPSC chairman Rachael Chatterjee here on Tuesday demanding postponement of the examination. The AP Public Service Commission and the state government are firm on conducting the examination despite opposition from TJAC and OUJAC and others. Not only the Seemandhra students and students from Telangana districts will also have a tough time reaching the capital in time to write the examination.About 4.5 lakh students, including 2 lakh from Telangana region, will write the examination at all the 23 district headquarters on October 15 and 16.As the capital is the state's hub of coaching for competitive examinations, many aspirants across the state take coaching at institutes here.As they have been staying here for long attending coaching classes and preparing for the examination, they opted for Hyderabad as the centre in order to avoid travelling long distances just before the examination. But, unexpectedly, the examination is being held amidst high-voltage protests, APSRTC employees' strike and rail roko on October 15 and 16.As the Telangana Political JAC postponed the rail roko twice to October 15 and the RTC NMU Telangana Forum did not accept the compromise formula, there will only be private vehicles for the candidates to depend on apart from autorickshaws. As the APPSC had issued the notification long back in 2008, the candidates did not foreseee the present situation and opted Hyderabad as their centre.Speaking to Express, P Ramanjaneya Reddy from Anantapur district said that he was preparing for competitive examinations in Hyderabad when the APPSC issued the notification in 2008. With a view to avoiding travelling long distances before the examination he opted Hyderabad as a centre, but for various reasons the conduct of the examination has been delayed for three years.Meanwhile, he has got a job as social welfare officer and moved to Anantapur. In spite of the hostile atmosphere, he is determined to take the examination in the state capital. He said he would not have chosen Hyderabad as the centre had he foreseen the present situation. The story of a couple, Madhusudan Reddy and Pavani, from Kadapa district is similar. With the examination delayed for three years, the couple moved to their home district and are planning to travel to Hyderabad amid the tensions.Another aspirant from Vishakapatnam, Santosh, who is now in Hyderabad said that he too would not have chosen Hyderabad as the centre had he imagined these developments.
