'Tough Times Don't Last, Tough People Do': Nita Ambani's Words Echo as India's T20 World Cup Champs Are Celebrated at Anant-Radhika Sangeet Event

The family sangeet celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant took on the high emotional notes of national cricket fervour when Reliance Foundation chairperson Nita Ambani called on stage, and the whole gathering applauded, the T20 World Cup winning heroes: Captain Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya.

The whole audience comprising the family, friends, and guests attending the function stood up, clapped, and cheered loudly along with a visibly emotional Nita Ambani as she explained how this win is so personal for her since the three stalwarts are also part of her Mumbai Indians family.

Reliving the excitement of the much-awaited World Cup final win as well as the thrilling last over of the match, Nita Ambani mentioned how the nation watched with bated breath and with hearts in their mouths as the Indian team carved victory out of a nearly impossible situation.

She echoed the people’s sentiment around Hardik Pandya aptly through her comment: “Tough times don’t last but tough people do.”

Reliance Industries Limited chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani echoed the sentiment as he congratulated the cricketers for making India proud. He mentioned how it took him back to the feeling of the last Indian World Cup win in 2011.

Several Mumbai Indians teammates and other Indian cricketers relished the moments in the audience including Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, Krunal Pandya, KL Rahul, and all-time great Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who was travelling, could not attend.

Anant, the youngest son of Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani, and Radhika, the daughter of industrialist Viren Merchant and Shaila Merchant, will tie the knot at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.

The wedding ceremonies will begin on July 12. The first event will be the auspicious Shubh Vivah or wedding function. The dress code is Indian traditional.

July 13 will be the day of Shubh Aashirwad and the dress code is Indian formal. July 14 will be the Mangal Utsav or the wedding reception and the dress code is Indian chic. All these functions will be held at the Jio World Centre in BKC.
