CHENNAI: The driver of the train, which had rammed into a stationary passenger train at Chitheri near here on September 13, leaving 11 persons dead and over 70 injured, was today arrested, police said.Rajkumar was arrested by railway police under IPC sections including 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), Inspector General of Police Sunil Kumar told PTI.The Chennai Beach-Vellore Cantonment MEMU train had rammed into the Arakkonam-Katpadi passenger from behind as it was waiting for a signal near Chitheri station, about 90 km from Chennai on September 13.The arrest was made on the basis of the report submitted by South Zone Commissioner of Railway Safety to the Railway Board.Earlier, preliminary reports had said the driver had jumped a few signals and ignored speed restrictions.
