TIRUMALA: Private vehicle owners in the temple town better get the fitness and pollution certificates for their vehicles as it has been made mandatory for all private vehicles plying between Tirupati and Tirumala. Tests for the fitness and pollution certificate began on Kalyana Vedika premises here on Sunday. KS Srinivasa Raju, TTD JEO (Tirumala), personally inspected the tests conducted under the supervision of Tirupati RTO Prasad. Speaking to the media, Prasad said that with increasing vehicular traffic in Tirumala, pollution level in the town is on the rise. Considering this, the RTO has decided to make pollution and vehicle fitness tests mandatory for all private vehicles, he explained.As a part of the move, fitness tests for private vehicles are being conducted and will be continued till August 8. Vehicles which fail to prove their fitness in the test will not be allowed to ply in Tirumala, he said.The JEO said that the vehicles belonging to the TTD also have to undergo the test, which is likely to be conducted on August 21 and 22. These vehicles can undergo the tests either in Tirupati or Tirumala, he added.TTD CV&SO MK Singh, TTD transport GM Sesha Reddy, SE-II Ramesh Reddy, additional CVSO Sivakumar Reddy, RTO officials and others were also present.
