In two separate incidents, a man and two boys died after drowning in water as incessant rainfall caused havoc in the capital. In first such incident, a man died after drowning in water at the Okhla underpass in Delhi after heavy rains continued to lash parts of the national capital on Saturday.

A PCR call regarding one man drowning in water at the Okhla underpass was received at PS Okhla Industrial Area, the Delhi police informed.

Soon after receiving information, the police reached the spot and found one unconscious person drowning in water. He was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead.

In another incident, two boys drowned in the waterlogged section at an underpass in outer north Delhi’s SP Badali area on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred near the Siraspur underpass near the metro, which was flooded with 2.5-3 feet of water, a senior police officer said.

The Delhi-NCR region on Saturday received heavy rains for the third consecutive day. The incessant rains that brought respite to the sweltering heat have wreaked havoc with scenes of cars submerged on waterlogged roads and trees uprooted.

Delhi To Witness Heavy Rainfall

As visuals of Delhi-NCR submerged in water emerged on Friday, the India Meteorological Department confirmed that the monsoon has arrived in the region. In an official statement, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into the entire Delhi region.

The weather department further predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in north India for the next four to five days.
