Three held for land fraud

CHENNAI: A trio was arrested for cheating a builder of Rs 60 lakh here on Sunday. A release said P Vijayashankar, a builder, approached realty broker Selvam based on an ad about a plot in VGP Layout, who claimed that it belonged to Ravi alias Ponnusamy of Kancheepuram, Dhanalakshmi alias Pavazhakodi of Kodambakkam, and David alias Raghunathan of Namakkal. He fixed the sale with the ‘owners’ for `60 lakh. When he tried to approach them for registration, he found that the addresses were false and the papers forged. He filed a plaint with the Neelangarai police, who learnt that the trio had forged papers of land on ECR and Uthagamandalam. A search is on for  Selvam, Sekar and Palani Basha alias Babu, the other suspects in the case.
