A resident of the Rajanna Sircilla district said that Veernapally Gram Panchayat is famous for ancient inscriptions and sculptures.

There are many remote places in India which hold great historical significance. We often get news about archaeological explorations. Today, we will talk about one such village in the Rajanna Sircilla district, Telangana which is known for its unique historical significance.

A resident of the district, Anil Kumar Jinka spoke about it in a conversation with Local 18. He mentioned that Veernapally Gram Panchayat of the Rajanna Sircilla district is famous for ancient inscriptions and sculptures. He added that Veernapally Gram Panchayat stands as a testament to many such historical traces. He further said, “I want to request the archaeological department of the country to take special initiative to preserve these historical traces, ancient stones and statues. This will help the future generations to know about the history of the place.”

Some carved stones were reportedly discovered that talk about the place’s history. Several Veeragallu statues were found in the village. The Veeragallu statues are popularly known as hero stones. In the 18th century, these statues were made as memorials of the people who lost their lives in battles. Many elder people mentioned that the village is named after these stones.

According to reports, the villagers used to consider these statues as representations of Lord Hanuman. Due to the lack of proper inscriptions, there are accurate references to these unique sculptures. The images depict warriors with folded arms holding swords, bows, quivers and spears. The villagers further claimed that many such historical things are often found here.

The statues that used to stand once have now fallen to the ground. Some of these stones have also developed cracked. The locals mentioned that they want to request the government to preserve these so that future generations can witness them. A local farmer mentioned that while farming they have often found ancient statues and stones in their agricultural fields. Many such stones are discovered by the Archaeological Survey of India from various parts of the country.
