BANGALORE: The onus of ensuring the inauguration of Reach 1 of Namma Metro is on Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) now. The Commissioner of Rail Safety (CRS) is waiting for BMRCL to submit the compliance report to declare the Reach 1 open. With the Railway Board giving its clearance on Tuesday and waiting to inaugurate the much-delayed Namma Metro by the end of this month, the BMRCL’s compliance report to the CRS will take the safety inspection procedure to the last step.“We expect to receive the compliance report in the next two days. After that, with the final nod from the chief commissioner of Rail Safety, Reach 1 can be inaugurated,” Commissioner of Rail Safety Deepak Kumar Singh said while speaking to The New Indian Express. However, repeated attempts to contact Managing Director of BMRCL Sivasailam, failed and the status of the compliance report is still unknown. If BMRCL gives the compliance report, it will mean that it has agreed to work on all the suggestions recommended by the CRS. The total number of suggestions is said to be 28 with an addition of two approvals - Schedule of Dimensions and Rolling stock.Meanwhile, it is said that the Railway Board might have sanctioned the Schedule of Dimensions and the Rolling Stock on Wednesday. However, BMRCL has not received any official letter from the board. The efforts to invite Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to inaugurate Metro’s Reach 1 might not succeed since it is said that he might not be in the country between September 21 and 27.
