Tension eases as Lagadapati makes way for Jagan

VIJAYAWADA: High drama continued in the city till Friday evening over the clash of Jagan's maha dharna at sub-collector's office on Saturday with MP Lagadapati Rajagopal's proposed satyagraha near the Gandhi statue set up at the same venue as part of Vande Gandhiyam programme.While Jagan announced the YSR Congress is going to stage a maha dharna in support of farmers' demands, Lagadapati announced the satyagraha at the same venue and wrote a letter to the former asking him to change the venue of his maha dharna.While people are confused over announcement of major programmes at the same place on Saturday, Lagadapati later announced they are going to withdraw their satyagraha to avoid clash with the maha dharna.However, the YSRC leaders have decided to stage the protest, despite not getting police permission.Commissioner of police N Madhusudhan Reddy said permission was rejected for both parties in view of the law and order problem.The YSRC leaders alleged that Lagadapati has been trying to counter the patronage received to Odarpu Yatra.
