HYDERABAD: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has succeeded in convincing his cabinet colleagues from the Telangana region to take part in the Independence Day celebrations and attend the next cabinet meeting. Except for one or two the rest of the 12 ministers who have resigned and are staying away from duties have almost decided to attend the cabinet meeting at the CM’s camp office here on August 16. A final decision in this regard will be taken at the Telangana Congress steering committee meeting to be held here on August 14.All of them have decided to take part in the Independence Day celebrations and hoist the national flag in their respective Assembly constituencies. Deputy chief minister C Damodar Rajanarasimha, and ministers from the city Danam Nagender and M Mukesh Goud have not resigned and are attending their duties.Talking to Express over phone, infrastructure and investments minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy asserted that he would not attend the cabinet meeting or official duties till the central government began the process of formation of Telangana state. He, however, said that he would take part in the Independence Day celebrations in Nalgonda district. He said that after hoisting the national flag he would hoist the Telangana flag at a nearby place. “There is no going back on my decision”, he declared.Another minister and convener of Telangana Congress steering committee Baswaraj Saraiah said a decision on attending the Independence Day celebrations and the cabinet meeting would be taken at the next meeting of the committee to be held at K Keshava Rao’s residence here on August 14. “What is wrong if the chief minister talks to us on issues pertaining to cabinet meeting?,’’ he retorted in reply to a question.It is learnt that the chief minister has talked to the Telangana ministers over phone and convinced them to take part in the Independence Day celebrations. However, two ministers V Sunitha Laxma Reddy (Medak) and Saraiah (Warangal) have expressed their inability to take part in the celebrations in Adilabad district for personal reasons. The chief minister then spoke of alternative arrangements in the district. The ministers who will take part in the celebrations their respective home districts are: P Sabitha Reddy (Ranga Reddy), R Venkat Reddy (Khammam), DK Aruna (Mahaboobnagar), P Sudershan Reddy (Nizamabad), D Sridhar Babu (Karimnagar), K Venkat Reddy (Nalgonda), J Geeta Reddy (Medak) and P Lakshmaiah (Warangal).
