Hyderabad: The Karimnagar-based filigree items manufacturing unit, Silver Filigree of Karimnagar, has made 60 special gifts to be presented to Ivanka Trump, Prime minister Narendra Modi, and other dignitaries.
The gifts include replicas of iconic Charminar, weighing 4 kilograms and 2.5 feet in height.
Other articles include Kakatiya dynasty arch, Veena (traditional musical instrument), Peacock and Swan, along with several small items.
Speaking to CNN-News18, SFK general secretary, Ashok said, "120 families for the last 2 months worked day and night to prepare these gifts. They are totally hand-made items. This is an ancient craft, and we are happy that our work will be presented to esteemed guests. For centuries we have created filigree items for the Nawabs."
The 400-year-old ancient art is still continuing in the Karimnagar district as dedicated artisans passed on the legacy to their next generation.
What makes Silver Filigree so unique is the fact that no two works of art are ever the same. Each item is a distinct, elegant masterpiece, which is a result of incredible craftsmanship and the close attention to detail that goes into creating it.
The art has been extended from jewelry to other household articles like tea-trays, ornament containers, key chains and even cigarette boxes.
