HYDERABAD: The Congress has begun “political management”, like it did in 1969 to dilute the Telangana movement, by awarding the Polavaram integrated irrigation project contract to C Lakshmi Rajam, a leader of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, the TDP has alleged.Awarding the contract to Rajam was part of the Congress management which was knowingly accepted by TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao, TDP leader T Devender Goud alleged.Speaking to reporters here on Friday, Goud said that there was a nexus between Rao and Congress leaders over diluting the separatist movement.“The Polavaram tender issue is the best example how the Congress is trying to dilute the movement as it did in the past. The Congress absorbed Marri Chenna Reddy’s party in 1969 and broke the movement then.In a similar manner, it is trying to dilute the Telangana movement now and cashing in on the weaknesses of the TRS chief,” Goud alleged.Demanding that the TRS chief respond to their allegations, Telangana Telugu Desam Forum (TTDF) convener E Dayakar Rao said, “Namaste Telangana newspaper was launched with the money earned by corrupt practices. It is another Sakshi.” The TDP was ready for a debate on the Polavaram tender issue at any place, even at Telangana Bhavan, the TDP leader challenged.Meanwhile, Telangana Nagara Samiti president Nagam Janardhan Reddy has submitted a memorandum to governor ESL Narasimhan demanding a thorough probe into the finalisation of the Polavaram tender.Alleging that large-scale irregularities took place in awarding the contract, BJP state spokesperson NVSS Prabhakar also demanded a probe into it.He termed the Polavaram tender as a “political tender”.
