Officials at the office of the Chief Education Officer have decided to transfer a high school teacher at Pudukovil village here on Wednesday, as she was always found talking on her cellphone in the classroom.
Jeeva of Ramanathapuram, an English teacher at the Government High School at Pudukovil, which comes under the Cinnandivalasai panchayat. The students had complained to their parents that Jeeva was spending most of her time talking on the cellphone in class. Moreover, the teacher was allegedly using inappropriate language over the phone in the presence of students.
The parents had taken the issue before panchayat president Kasthuri last month, who issued a warning to the school. The parents also decided not to send their wards to the school since she continued her behaviour. Therefore, the panchayat president lodged a complaint with the CEO.
Rengasamy, CEO, told Express that based on the complaint, a probe was conducted and it has been decided to transfer the particular teacher to some other school.
