New Delhi: Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on Monday said the government was taking forward its plans to set up anti-terror agency National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) and a note is being sent to the cabinet on the issue.
"We are sending a note forward. We are taking it forward, at the stage of sending it to the cabinet," Shinde told reporters.
Answering queries, Shinde said the government was seeking to address concerns of states and had decided to segregate "operations" from the original proposal concerning the NCTC.
The proposed centre has been opposed by several states which feel that the agency's powers to search, arrest and seize would encroach upon their rights.
The states objected to the proposal of putting the NCTC under the Intelligence Bureau.
Answering a query on last month's Hyderabad blasts, Shinde said: "There is some progress (in investigations)."
