KOCHI: T V Alexander, 59, the first managing director of the Kanan Devan Hills Company Private Ltd (KDHP) died due to a cardiac arrest in Chennai on Sunday. He was the man who played a significant role in floating the KDHP company, the first employee buyout company in the plantation sector, when Tata group decided to withdraw from plantation sector in 2005. His dedicated efforts led to the consummation of KDHP Munnar. He was the managing director of the company till his death.Alexander was the president of the United Planters’ Association of Southern India and a member of the Tea Board of India. At the time of demise, he was a member of the Bio-diversity Board of Kerala and Plantation Standing Committee. He was also a board member of the Tata Coffee Ltd. He started his career as an assistant manager in James Finlay & Company in 1976 and became the general manager of Tata Tea Ltd in September 2002. Alexander belongs to Tattupurackal family. He is survived by wife Ivy, son Vivek and daughter Roshini.
